Rhythm and Balance

Image
After learning about rhythm, balance, scale, and texture from the reading, I thought it will appropriate to relate this topic to my photographs of nature.  Indeed, balance and rhythm is a huge part of our daily lives as it helps us understand our surroundings. However, after observing some of my photographs of nature, I realized that almost each of those photos was asymmetrical. I found it fascinating as the reading stated that "symmetry is not the only way to achieve balance, however. Asymmetrical designs are generally more active" ( Lupton 50). I was conflicted at first when I read that particular statement. I asked myself "how can something be balanced if it's asymmetrical?". Then I realized from my photographs that things don't have to be symmetrical to achieve balance.       I chose the first and second images to show that they can achieve balance regardless of them being asymmetrical. Baybayin "Spell"      For this project, I decided to write in Baybayin which translates to "Spell" in English. Baybayin is the native alphabet/letters that were used years ago in the Philippines. A lot of people do not know about the Baybayin alphabets including the Millenials in the Philippines. They even made English the official language of the Philippines. Anyhow, I thought I'd write a couple words in Baybayin for this project. In the reading, Lupton stated that using point, line, and plane forms a texture, patterns, diagrams, and so on (Lupton 32). The art I made (yes, I consider Baybayin as art) mo

All About Me  - Hi there, my name is Lisalyn Dresser but I go by LJ for simplicity. I was born in the Philippines and moved to the United States of America when I was 13 years old. I have been in the United States for almost 8 years. In those years, I learned so much about the people, culture, and so much more in the United States of America. Honestly, I could not find any similarities between the culture I grew up in and the culture I'm living in. The Philippines has a special place in my heart not only because I was born there but because my heart is at the happiest when I used to live there. My heart has not felt that happiness again when I came to the United States but don't get me wrong, I am genuinely grateful that I had the privilege to be and live in the United States. Being here had given me better opportunities that the Philippines could not give me, one of those opportunities is better education. The Covid-19 have not affected me nor my whole family negatively and I&
